Pickett's Reserve

HOA paving and more...(posted Sept 15 2010)

Road paving in the community will start on Sept 17th. Notices will be left on resident doors (by construction crew) when your side of the community is to be paved.

Fairfax City maintains a punch list (see note below) of items to be completed by our building contractor in Picket’s Reserve for the City to accept the roads, sidewalks, and other exterior appurtenances throughout our neighborhood. A representative of the HOA Board met with the Fairfax City inspector and reviewed the punch list.  The list contains 200 items covering concrete, storm drainage, water fixtures, sanitary lines, asphalt trails and roadway, retaining walls, and other items. In general, our building contractor has addressed most of the items on the list and our HOA Board representative will walk the neighborhood then advise the City if there are items of concern.

In that regard, if any home owners have concerns about recent work accomplished by the building contractor on the roads, sidewalks, and other exterior appurtenances throughout our neighborhood please contact Dick Cardinale at 703-383-8325.  The Board will provide the City and builder with a consolidated list of homeowner concerns if there are any.

Interesting tit-bits on 'punch list'

punch list is generally a list of tasks or "to-do" items. In the construction industry, a "punch list" is the name of a contract document used in the building trades to organize the completion of a construction project. According to Wikipedia, the phrase takes its name from the historical process of punching a hole in the margin of the document, next to one of the items on the list. This indicated that the work was completed for that particular construction task. Two copies of the list were punched at the same time to provide an identical record for the owner and contractor.
